In cooperation with the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education, Thomas Dolce led a group lecture for over 60 students and facilitators from 4 countries on November 2, 2025. His virtual lecture, “How and Why are Words Copied Into Other Languages” explained what loanwords are, how they are applied in different languages, and the effects they have on the languages into which they are adopted.
Dolce combined his knowledge of Japanese language and culture from his teaching experience in the country, and his love for baseball, to illustrate loanwords in easy-to-understand terms for the high school students. Click to view the lecture: Tokyo English Channel.
