Bio
Maya Shastri grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas in a multi-cultural household. An avid interest in language and culture led her to earn a B.A. double major in German and anthropology from the University of Arkansas and an M.A. in German from Penn State University. She taught both English as a foreign language and German before joining the UF ELI team. She has lived abroad in such exotic places as Bremen, Germany and Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories, in the Canadian High Arctic.
