Out and About: Sushi in Gainesville

I have been in the USA for four months now. During my stay, I have heard people talking about “Sushi” quite a lot. And I found out that there are many types of sushi in United States. I have heard about Mexican sushi, Italian sushi, Korean sushi and so on. But in my opinion, they are supposed to be a different meal. They look so different, and taste completely different. Sushi that I know, Japanese sushi, are made very simple. Fresh raw fish with vinegared rice, and you should dip with only a little soy sauce. Thus, it’s very different than others. So, I would like to introduce a restaurant that serves good Japanese sushi.

The restaurant is called Hana Sushi. It is located right next to Dave & Buster’s. At that restaurant, you can find many “Nigiri” types of sushi, which is the most common Japanese style of sushi. Especially for nigiri, I recommend trying tuna and salmon. Those are the best two to try Japanese sushi for the first time. Also, if you are not interested in Japanese sushi, there are many other types of sushi or good appetizers. For appetizers, I heartily recommend trying “Spicy Edamame” especially if you like spicy foods. These are just brief introductions of the restaurant, so you should check it out if you are interested. I am sure you will have a very good time!

Check Your I-20: If your I-20 is expiring soon, make an appointment with Daryl in MAT 223 to renew your I-20 before it expires.

Student Voices: We love to see our students writing, but more than that, we like to see the writing in print. Every semester, we take your writing and publish it in Student Voices. Past submissions have included paragraphs, essays, creative stories, recipes, letters, obituaries, poetry, creative stories, class projects, and other interesting works on a variety of topics. I encourage you to submit anything of your work that you wish to see published. It can be from any class or something you have written on your own but ask your teachers for help editing! You can email it to Olga (omoody@ufl.edu)  or to your teacher. Please include your name and class on your submission. The deadline for submissions is Friday, November 19th.

Please keep the bathrooms clean! Many students, faculty, and staff use the bathrooms at UF every day. Please help keep the bathrooms clean by flushing toilet paper in the toilet, putting brown paper towels in the compost bin, taking your trash to the trashcan in the hall, and keeping the floors clean and dry.
