The University of Florida English Language Institute offers intensive English programs that prepare students for using English in the real world. Our methods of instruction are based on current research in the fields of language teaching, acquisition, learning and assessment, and the more than 60 years of experience we have had teaching English to international students at the University of Florida. Our faculty and staff are committed to excellence in providing quality service and education. We offer English instruction that prepares you for using English in an academic or professional context as well as the culture that is all around you.
Updated message to our ELI Family
Following guidance from the United States government and the University of Florida, the ELI will provide a combination of on-campus and online courses for the Fall 2020 semester for initial F-1 students, following University of Florida protocols for re-opening. As we return to campus, your safety and well-being are a top priority.
Students already studying at the ELI will continue to take interactive, remote classes in the Fall 2020 semester. All students have the option of joining remote classes from their home country without an F-1 student visa. Please contact StudyEnglish@eli.ufl.edu for further information regarding these options.

The ELI Office in 223 Matherly Hall is also open for document drop-off and pick-up only between 10:00am and 2:00pm Monday through Friday.

To register for classes: Please send a copy or photo of your passport or government-issued identification and a copy of proof of completion of secondary school to StudyEnglish@eli.ufl.edu.
