Special Programs

In addition to the regular Intensive English Program available throughout the year at specific times, the English Language Institute offers highly flexible programs for groups of five or more participants at times that they find convenient. The ELI Special Programs are constructed according to needs expressed by universities or agencies organizing group visits. These programs follow academically strict but highly flexible guidelines established by the Institute. Availability of these programs is based upon availability of faculty at the ELI.

Instruction

Programs may consist of standard courses in conversation, reading, writing, and grammar, or they may include an array of offerings that include but are not limited to:

  • English for Specific Purposes (examples: English for doctors, nurses and other health professionals, business English, legal terminology, technical writing for engineers, English for flight attendants)
  • Test-taking Strategies for SAT, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, TOEIC
  • Accent Reduction
  • Introduction to American Culture
  • Professional Presentations

Flexible Program

Courses are designed upon request. Our goal is to design the program that can best fit your group’s schedule. Please inform us of your group’s needs, the anticipated number of participants, and the dates of your study, and we will formulate the program. Short Term English Program (STEP) Online courses are available on demand for groups of five or more participants.

Your group can also get involved in the fitness and outdoor activities of Gainesville, an athlete, sport enthusiast and sports fan haven, with multiple facilities, health fitness centers, and a year-round outdoors tradition.
